
About Us
Merlis Belsher Place is a cutting edge recreational facility on the University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon, SK. It provides a spectator rink size 200′ x 90′, and a 2nd NHL-size ice surface, 200′ x 85′. It also houses the 2 official NBA-size Ron and Jane Graham Gymnasiums.
The recreational facility is the new home of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie hockey, basketball and campus leagues as well as the Midget AAA Contacts and Midget AAA Stars of the Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association. The new facility is spacious and designed to provide excellent user and spectator experiences. The Merlis Belsher Place replaces the rustic Rutherford Arena which was the second oldest facility still in use in Canada.
Capacity
The recreational facility has two levels offering a combined 120,000 square feet of recreation space. State-of-the-art building technologies, engineering and design make it one of the most outstanding sports and varsity facilities in the nation. The building features two ice surfaces and two full sized gymnasiums.
- The spectator rink is 90′ x 200′
- The community rink is a standard NHL size, 85′ x 200′
- Ice surfaces are designed for year-round use
The 2 Ron and Jane Graham NBA-sized courts will be used as a practice facility for the varsity basketball programs and it will be available for Community basketball programs in the evenings. There will also be men and women’s soccer team rooms along with space designated for Campus Recreation.
